In the early 1900s, Black Creek was the site for several logging camps, and in the 1930s the area became open to German speaking Mennonite settlers primarily from Russia. The land then became a site for dairy and fruit-growing farms. In the 1950s, Austrian and German immigrants migrated to Black Creek and the area remained inhabited by German and English population well into the 1960s. Black Creek still has two Mennonite churches, although few of the original settlers’ families live there today.
